Authorizes the coordination of school services with public agency services to students.

Authorizes referral of students in need of basic living needs to school social workers and to community resources for assistance.

Department of Court Services 

Establishes the relationship between Department of Court Services workers and the district and authorizes referral of a student to Court Services in cases of severe non-attendance or incorrigibility that does not respond to district staff interventions.

Releasing Students to Police

The purpose of this policy is to establish the procedures for access to students by police officers during the school day, and to clarify the responsibilities of district staff in responses to requests from law enforcement officers to question students or to release students to them.

Procedures

This regulation is designed to clarify roles, provide guidance for interactions, and assure that interactions with law enforcement needs do not unduly disrupt the educational environment for students and staff.

Use of Peace Officers and Crisis Teams to Remove Students from School Property

The purpose of this policy is to describe the appropriate use of peace officers and crisis teams to physically remove a student with or without an Individualized Education Program (IEP) or 504 Plan from school property.

The purpose of these regulations is to implement School Board Policy No. 5621 regarding the use of peace officers and crisis teams to physically remove students from school property.

Health Examinations, Health Screenings, Immunizations and Services

Establishes immunization requirements for enrollment, and rights of students to seek health services related to reproductive health, pregnancy, sexually transmitted disesases and chemical use and abuse without prior parental consent.

Establishes requirements for enrollment in school based on immunization or alternatives, and requirements for record-keeping.

Drug Free Schools
 

The purpose of this policy is to assist the school district in its goal to prevent chemical use and abuse by providing procedures for education and intervention and to maintain a safe and healthful environment for students by prohibiting the use of alcohol, toxic substances and controlled substances without a health care provider’s prescription

Chemical Health Instruction and Notice to Parents
 

Establishes standards for curriculum, provides for staff development and requires parental notification of Chemical Health Resources at the school.

The purpose of this regulation is to establish the procedure for staff reporting of chemical use or abuse, suspected or witnessed, in students or staff.

Reporting Maltreatment of Minors and Vulnerable Adults
 

The purpose of this policy is to make clear the statutory requirements of school personnel to report suspected maltreatment of children or vulnerable adults.

Procedures

The purpose of this regulation is to establish the procedures employees must follow in making reports  of suspected maltreatment of children or vulnerable adults; to give guidance on the procedures involved in investigation of allegations; and the records maintenance requirements.

Notification of Student on Student Sexual Assualts Committed on School Property

The purpose of this policy is to direct staff of Special School District #1, Minneapolis Public Schools to notify the Minneapolis Police Department or other appropriate agency when staff members know or have reason to believe that a student on student sexual assault has been committed on School District property or at a school sponsored event.

Establishes that school personnel may search students and their lockers, desks and motor vehicles on school premises based on reasonable suspicion of possession of items that may be harmful to themselves or others.
